Rachel + Samath - An International Celebration

A Beautiful Love Story across Two countries

This sweet couple met when Rachel was teaching English in Cambodia, and Samath happened to be in her class. Both of them describe their “love at first sight” moment as something truly special, and Rachel stayed in Cambodia for an extra year so they could be together.

Rachel and Samath definitely hold the Elope 253 record for the largest engagement party… they had 150 guests! Their celebration in a Cambodian village followed local traditions, and they had a ceremony where they exchanged rings followed by a reception, plus several outfit changes. (I learned that in Cambodia, engagement celebrations are often bigger than the actual wedding.)

Look at all this Fabulousness!

When they flew to the U.S. together to get married, it was Rachel’s turn to teach Samath about her culture’s wedding traditions. After both practicing in advance, Rachel said her vows in Khmer (Samath’s native language), and Samath said his vows in English (Rachel’s native language). Regardless of which language they were speaking, there was a powerful connection between them that was well beyond language.

We wish you two the VERY best on your journey through life together!
